Apart from our Quiz night in January all our fundraising activities
have had to be cancelled so far this year - these included:-
St Stephens (4th April), Flag Day (2nd May), Morrisons collection (15th May),
and the Coop collection (18th July).

The remaining scheduled events for the rest of the year are ASDA collection (15th/16th October), Morrisons collection 26th October and
Annual Autumn Fair (7th November) - these of course will be subject to review closer to the time.

All our box collections have also been suspended.
The end result is that currently the overall amount we have raised stands
at 4780 - our overall total for 2019 was 30185.
Included in this year's total is a significant anonymous* donation

Marion Westerdale
It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Marion Westerdale one of the founder members of the Hessle branch back in 1969.

Marion was a stalwart of the Branch for many years serving as Branch Chairman and her service was recognised by the RNLI by her award of a Gold Badge.
She was still supporting the RNLI throughout the last year - supporting our Fund Our Fuel campaign and attending our 50th anniversary luncheon.

The branch would like to express our sympathy to her daughters Judith and Rosemary, son Robert and all her wider family at this sad time.

News from the RNLI
The RNLI has suspended all face to face fund raising, closed all its shops, museums and lifeboat stations to members of the public.
As the lockdown eases a few shops are now being opened but none associated with Lifeboat stations. Lifeguard teams are being stationed now around the coast for the main summer holiday period but not all beaches are being covered. In this area teams are being located at Scarborough and Bridlington (both North and South Bays) but not Withernsea and Hornsea.

We are awaiting details from the RNLI who are preparing a recovery plan in terms of fundraising. As yet the full impact is not known as a lot of the RNLI's funding comes from legacies and bequests but clearly the Community based fundraising involving all the local fundraising branches around the country will have been severely impacted by the virus

Branches are not being allowed to order any RNLI souvenirs at the moment including Christmas Cards and Calendars in order to support the stock supply of the RNLI's on line shop and at this stage if anyone does want to make any purchases this is the only  option currently available (contact shop.rnli.org)  - this of course will be subject to change.

Bettys Jam Pots/foreign coins etc
If you still have some coinage to donate whether through the 5p jam pots
or foreign currency please keep that to one side until such time
as we can collect it from you.

The AGM scheduled for March was cancelled and the current committee are still in place - again we'll let you know as and when any new arrangements are made or whether we will just roll things forward to an AGM in March 2021?

with all our best wishes and thanks for your continuing support
